About Me

Hi! I'm Sarah Stancil and I teach choir! I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. I've studied piano all of my life and choir is my passion! This is will be my fifth year teaching at Newcastle and I am so excited to start a new school year! I am assisted by Diane Watson, who has been the choir accompanist for thirteen years!

In choir, students sing a variety of choral literature from several time periods and styles. Students also learn musicianship skills such as reading and analyzing music, proper vocal technique, and performance skills. Choir (and other music electives) has been shown to help students in their social-emotional learning by helping them form meaningful relationships and learning life skills such as self-discipline, time management, and responsibility. Music performance teaches students to overcome anxiety and take risks. Previous participation in choir is not required, and there are several extracurricular opportunities for students to grow in their musicianship.

The best way to communicate with me is through email. My email is [email protected]. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

It's a great day to be a Racer!
