Newcastle Public Schools Names New Administrators and Head Coaches

NEWCASTLE, Okla., June 20, 2024 -- Newcastle Public Schools has appointed three new administrators and two head coaches for the 2024-25 school year. 

The Newcastle Board of Education approved Amanda Townley as the incoming principal of Newcastle Early Childhood Center, Bridget O’Connor as principal of Newcastle Elementary School, and Larry Morman as assistant principal of Newcastle Middle School.

  • Amanda Townley joins Newcastle Public Schools with 16 years of teaching and administrative experience in public education. Most recently, Townley served as principal of Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center in Chickasha. 

  • Bridget O’Connor brings to Newcastle Public Schools 15 years as elementary principal experience. O’Connor has served students in various roles including elementary art teacher, elementary classroom teacher, instructional specialist, assistant principal and elementary principal.

  • Larry Morman has served in various roles throughout his career including teaching, coaching, athletic administration and an assistant principal. Morman will begin his 16th year in education as the assistant principal of Newcastle Middle School.

“Newcastle Public Schools is thrilled to welcome Amanda, Bridget and Larry to its leadership team,” Dr. Cathy Walker, superintendent of Newcastle Public Schools said. “Each brings the knowledge and experience needed to lead our district as we continue to grow.”

The district also hired two new head coaches. Heather Holmes will serve as head cheer coach and Ryan Robertson as wrestling head coach for Newcastle High School.

  • Heather Holmes brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sport of cheerleading. She has coached for over fifteen years and has taken multiple squads to national and world competitions. While working at Mcloud High School, her team qualified for OSSAA state competitions seven years in a row. 

  • Ryan Robertson has more than a decade of experience within the wrestling community.  Robertson has led teams to state placers and champions, including boys and girls head coach at Mustang Junior High and most recently head coach at Carl Albert Middle School.  

“I am very excited to bring these two new Racers on board with us,” Brent Hodges, athletic director of Newcastle Public Schools said. “These two new head coaches bring high character, great energy and dedication to students. We can’t wait to see what they do with our cheer and wrestling programs.”

NPS ESSER III Spending Plan FY24  Updated September 2023


Newcastle Public Schools is seeking your input for our Return to Learn Plan which was initially written in June of 2021.  We are required under the  Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) to update our plan every six months. This plan describes how we will maintain the health and safety of students, educators, and other school staff during and following the return to full in-person instruction.  Please review the current plan and provide any additional comments you feel would be beneficial as we make revisions.
