We appreciate your interest in Newcastle Public Schools, where we are proud of our quality programs, innovative teaching, supportive families, and connected community. We do our best to serve every Racer every day, and we welcome additional students to our district whenever it is possible.
Newcastle Public Schools makes decisions about student transfers in accordance with district policy and state law. When determining capacity limits, we use a 20:1 student teacher ratio for grades Pre-K through 12. You can download our comprehensive district policy below; however, we are providing the following information for your convenience:
The state Department of Education requires that the following form be completed to apply for a transfer. You can access the form in the link below. Paper copies are available at the Administration Building on 101 N. Main, Newcastle, OK 73065.
Decisions about transfers for the 2023- 2024 school year will be made by the end of July prior to the beginning of the new school year. We will contact parents directly about the approval status of their child’s transfer.
Mid-year transfer requests will be considered within 5 school days of the district receiving the application.
New transfers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who attended the district on a transfer during the 2021-22 school year will be automatically accepted pending approval from the district. The law also gives preference to children of active-duty military personnel.
To accept a transfer, enrollment in the grade the parent requests must be under the district-established capacity.
Transfers may be denied based on capacity, attendance and discipline issues.
Transfers for siblings must be considered separately.
Transfer students must abide by eligibility requirements established by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) for OSSAA-sanctioned activities.
If you have any questions about the transfer or appeal process, please contact Darla Allen at [email protected] or by calling 405-387-2890.
