NHS National Honor Society

 Applications are now available for Membership in our chapter of National Honor Society. All students who are not members, and who have at least a 3.5 weighted GPA are eligible to apply.  Applications are due on February 18, 2020 - NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED, so if you think you may be absent, get your application in early.

You will also need to give 3 of your teachers a CandidateEvaluationFormforNationalHonorSociety.pdf 

Remember, you will need to hand in confirmation for 5 completed servce hours with your application. Service hour forms are available HERE or in the library. 


Dates and Events

Meetings:
  • Usually the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the library during your lunch
    • 9/10/19; 10/8/19; 11/12/19; 12/10/19
    • 1/14/20; 2/11/20; 3/10/20; 4/14/20; 5/5/20*
    •      (*  these dates are the 1st Tuesday)
Service Projects:
  • Ongoing: Keep our Campus clean (pick up just one piece of trash anytime you walk around campus // offer to take people's trash at games) 
  • Ongoing: Recycling (paper, cans, bottles)
  • October: Help our Academic Team by bringing snacks or drinks, and volunteer to supervise the hospitality room 
  • December: Cards for teachers
  • February: 'Share the Love' food drive
New Member Drive:
  • Invitations for membership go out to any Sophomore, Junior, or Senior who has a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the 2nd semester (usually in February).
  • Please note that prospective members will have to have completed 5 hours of community service PRIOR to applying.  Any school or community service done between May 2019 and the application submission in early 2020 may count. Service confirmation forms are available in the library and attached below.
  • Admission is judged on a combination of teacher recommendations and student demonstrations of our core values of: honesty, dependability, maturity, responsibility, integrity, respectability, citizenship, leadership, and overall attitude.
  • Remember that you are representing yourself, your school, your community, and the National Honor Society if you become a member. Any offense that triggers an out-of-school suspension will be considered as grounds for dismissal and you may not reappply once dismissed.

Purpose:  The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
